From the Street to your Feet

Don’t you hate seeing a cutie pie on a street style blog (or, ya know, the actual street) whose style you would die for? Well, next time, my advice to you is to stop the babe dead in her tracks and ask her where her shoes/top/haircut is from and give her a compliment. You’ll seriously make her day!
Style blogs are harder. And by harder I mean easier, because you have me on the case! * I was cruising my favorite street style blogs just this morning, and ran across this doll:

on Elle Magazine’s Tumblr, and well… dang. Just look at her! Such a simple outfit, but totally head-turning at the same time! How do some people just do that?
The shoes immediately made me think of some oh-so-fun OTBT wedges we have here, and I thought it would be fun to “recreate” the look using the OTBTs, and other things you can actually buy. Check it out, after the jump!

It ain’t the desert, but still…

Well, this is just the perfect example of how to dress up your desert boots! This time of year (in Portland anyway) it can feel like a struggle to look put together while still staying nice and warm. If you added a hat and scarf to this look (you know we have plenty of those!) you’d surely get the job done. And we just got more Clarks desert boots in, too, check ‘em out!

Just be sure and weatherproof these bad boys and you can’t go wrong (especially if you ask us how!)

Sally

K.I.S.S.

K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid!) is a favorite saying of my very sassy grandmother. Though it normally came up, say, when we were planning a family vacation or organizing for a party, it was also her motto when it came to shopping/closet cleaning/getting dressed. As a child, I thought my granny just had to be the most elegant and glamorous woman who ever lived, and Keep It Simple Stupid is a rule I keep coming back to on “those mornings.” The “not enough coffee on earth” kinda mornings- I know you know what I mean. So I vow to do so except when , ya know, I don’t. Because for as many days as Granny Shirley looked chic as anything in a pair of great fitting slacks, gauzy blouse, and maybe one statement piece of jewelry on, there were also days when she had on piles of bangles, chandelier earrings, and maybe a fuzzy sequined sweater with a sparkly top underneath. Ya gotta keep ‘em guessing, ya know?
So I’m here to encourage you to be bold! Whether that means you need to, yes, Keep It Simple, or Make It Complicated! Or both, from one day to the next!
No matter your motto, here’s a little inspiration for you:

So whether you pile on the jewels or take off one accessory before you leave the house, do not be afraid to make a statement.
What’s your go-to style?

xoxo,
Sally

A Perfect Example…

… of how to get more use out of your summer clothes as the temperatures drop:

Take your favorite romper or sundress and, to get a few more wears out of that bad boy, throw on a pair of tights and some ankle booties!
BAM! Who says you have to say goodbye?

get ready

I’ve been catching up on my street style blogs lately and came across some truly inspiring looks on my personal fave- Mr. Newton.
This time of year, it’s all about layering- you never know what the weather holds! It’s definitely time to stock up on pretty tights, cozy hats, and socks so fun you almost forget you’re wearing them out of pure necessity. As a budget-conscious fashion lover, this time of year is also about taking some of your lightweight summery styles into the drearier months. Some opaque wool tights layered under a sundress and snuggly cardigan? A bright spring top paired with jeans and fall boots? Oh yes. It’s the only way I make it through Autumn in one stylish piece. Check out a few of my favorite looks that have popped up over on Mr. Newton’s blog recently:

Where do you draw inspiration for your personal style from?

Makes me wish it was still summer here in PDX.

copycats…

…just kidding! But as I was (and constantly am) scouring my new favorite street style blog trendycrew, I was overcome with a sense of deja vu. But, you know, the good kind. And that’s because so many of the ladies on this particular blog had on some gorgeous shoes (drr) that reminded me of some styles we have here at pedX! How lucky we are to have access to such stylish shoes.
Take a look at the inspiration:
