Who Wants a Wedg(i)e??*
AKA: The Only Thing Better Than Potato Wedges
Let me introduce you to my Shoe Best Friend Forever. If you are like me, you love height but hate to wear heels. This is where our SBFF comes in: wedges!
While my 5’3” is not short by any means (and ain’t nothin’ wrong with short!), sometimes it’s fun to tower in long flowy skirts and things like that. However, the wounded baby deer look that heels give me kinda contradicts the look I’m going for. Wedges give us that stability we all crave. And lucky for us wedges, platforms, and flatforms are all over the place right now. Check out a few of my favorites in stock right now, in case you wanna crank up the volume a bit:

The Roaring 2012s
The Art Deco movement has always been a favorite of mine- well, ever since I knew what that meant, anyway. It is a style of art and design that began in the 20s where most things do: Paris. Characterized by modern functionality, linear symmetry, chevron shapes, and sunbursts. Imagine how pleased I was when these beauties from Indigo were delivered:

The T-straps are like little Eiffel Towers! Très chic! And so easy to style in a modern, minimalist way, to let the shoes do the talking, or play up the Roaring-20s vibe with a drop waist dress and deep red wine lips. However you choose to wear them, I promise they’re comfortable enough to do the Charleston all night in!

Prep’s Cool
You don’t need a copy of The Preppy Handbook to tell you the prep is in- and it’s not going anywhere! One of my favorite things about the preppy look is how adaptable it is; it’s as easy to wear a straightforward prepster look as it is to throw on a pair of oxfords and a collared shirt with some punky accessories for a cheeky look. Peep our latest preppy arrival, the “Outlook” from Jeffrey Campbell:

They have a distinctive 20s, Great Gatsby vibe to them, dontcha think? You could own the preppiness with some pegged jeans or trousers and a vintage varsity jacket, or try them out with a knee length skirt and stripey shirt. But if you wanted to mix things up, maybe some skin tight jeans and a sassy top? The possibilities are endless, and the “Outlook” is good!
How you you wear these preppy shoes?

Raise your hand if you just got in Cydwoq bags!

Hey, that’s us!
Left: Mail bag, Right: Maple (Also in washed navy. Also amazing.)
These two bags are so different. Mail is casual, yet put together. Perfect to carry your papers to work and look chic, or for a trip to the flea market on the weekend. You can’t go wrong pairing it with a pair of luxurious silk slacks and a sheer secretary blouse. Maple is so ladylike, with a lot of vintage appeal; imagine it with vintage wool dress and some thick tights, or a floral sundress in the summer!
But Mail and Maple have a lot in common too. They’re both gorgeous, made from fine leathers by Cydwoq, and wear year round. Practical AND stylish?! Don’t tell anyone!

Tuesday Tip: Be a Knitwit!

When the temperatures drop, and the sky turns, gray, it’s easy to get a little blue. But hey, just because the sky is dark doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to! It is so easy to default to black coat-scarf-hat-umbrella, but there’s no reason to dress like you’re headed to summer’s funeral. In fact, it’s been scientifically proven* that wearing happy colors will cheer you right up! So try throwing on some colorful knit accessories on your way out the door on these cold mornings (okay, afternoons) and see if you don’t feel a little better about the rain this year!

Cop-Ikat
I was jazzed when we got in these gorgeous, brightly printed Ikat scarves from Zazou the other day (Hi, my name is Sally, and I am a scarf addict.) The weight and material make for the perfect head scarf, which is a current obsession. But it’s really the print that got me going; kinda tribal, kinda tie-dyed, with great color stories.
So I already have Ikat on the brain, right? And imagine my surprise when I am surfing through the 2012 resort collections and spy some too-delicious Ikat print outfits from Anna Wintour-approved Thakoon!

The yummy sherbet colors are a perfect addition to any outfit, whether tied on the head, neck, or waist. Come check em out for yourself!
