Lucky Charms

In honor of good ole’ St. Patty’s Day, I thought I’d showcase a few of my favorite lucky charms! You don’t have to wear green to get your Irish on!

I think a tasteful piece of jewelry should be enough to keep me from getting pinched today, don’t you?

Clockwise from top: Destiny Ray, Destiny Ray, Minoux, Luscious.

Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to come in and pick up something lucky before whiskey o’clock.

xoxo,
Sally

Put a Ring on It!

Or maybe two or five! Rings are such a classy way to jazz up an outfit, or give your fingers some flare. I love rings, but I always find it a struggle to know how many is too many and if they match or not.  I don’t want to look like the girl who woke up and decided to wear ALL her jewelry. Well my friends, after extensive trial and error process, I believe I have found the guidelines to ring wearing!

If you want to go with the simple and always classic understated look, then one or two rings will be good for you. Try layering 2 rings on one finger, or 1 on each hand.

If you prefer a lot of finger bling then I recommend wearing rings on up to five fingers out of the ten.  Maybe 2 on one hand and 3 on the other.  Anymore than five fingers and your hand might start to look a little bionic… (maybe similar to Beyonce’s hand in her Single Ladies video)
When I say five, I don’t mean five rings total.  Layering is way amazing with rings, one of my fav. things to do!  So maybe layer a couple thin rings together.

It’s also super sexy to mix metals and colors, but I like to choose one base color that is in every ring.  With my picture example, I chose gold, they all have a little gold in them even though there are also other colors.  It brings cohesion to your hand.

Your hands deserve to look fabulous too, they work really hard.

Stay Glam, Portland!

*Don’t forget to throw a cute nail polish on to complete the look!  I chose Essie Armed and Ready

Heavy Metal Lover

As a lifetime Virgo, I can tell you that as a child it literally never occurred to me to mix silver and gold when I started wearing jewelry. I say silver and gold because it also never occurred to me that there were other metals to wear. Literally. So you can imagine what a matchy-matchy adolescent I was. Total snooze!
It wasn’t until I started working here and saw how many amazing jewelers (Destiny Ray, Minoux, and Kiersten Crowley, just to name a few) mixed metals in the most elegant ways- not to mention mixing shapes and textures. What an epiphany!
I was and have continued to be truly inspired by this. Yes, this might be a total DUH moment for a lot of you out there, but just let me rant for a sec, will ya?
I started my quest the way the best ones do, with baby steps. It was a shiny silver charm on an oxidized silver chain- the two silvers were different, okay? Totally counts!
And now I am a full blown mix master! Shiny, antiqued, yellow gold, brushed copper- the works. The key is to make it look intentional, not messy. Stick to a palate of two or three metals (three, say, if it’s one antiqued and one shiny of the same metal, and then another complimentary metal.)
Enough chitchat, here’s a peek at the shiny stuff we have in store for you right now at pedX:

Doesn’t this look like an awesome party? So try wearing silver shoes with a pile of brassy necklaces, or gobs of silver earrings and rings with one or two gold ones. It’s fun, I swear!

The newest addition to my jewelry family!

Finally received my special order Minoux necklace and I couldn’t be more happy!

For those who know me, I have an unhealthy jewelry obsession- consisting of spiky rings, geometric shaped wing-ding bands, and chicken foot claws dangling from my neck…what can I say, I like to adorn myself and my contemporary goth-chic outfits with funk. This pyramid necklace is perfect for layering, [as the darling Sally states in her post about our newest Minoux jewels], and adding just a touch of pizazz to the everyday outfit, or the already simple pile of jewelry one wears.

Love!

Brand new from Coatt Jewelry

We just got in new Morse code necklaces by local favorite Coatt Jewelry.

These sweet, simple Morse code necklaces spell out various messages like “love.” “sister,” “soul mate,” and “lucky.” A few of my new favorites: “One wish,” “love me do,” and “I carry your heart,” which totally reminds me of my all time favorite poem by E.E. Cummings.

Come check them out, they are a great summer classic!

New from Minoux

We were already excited to get a fresh batch of jewelry from one of our favorite local jewelers, Minoux (pronounced minnow.) We were downright elated to unwrap all of the new pieces and see the new, surprising direction the line has taken. Take a look:

Minoux has always been known for clean, classic (but never boring) shapes and designs, but this season has debuted new shapes and stunning silhouettes that turn heads without being over the top; in short, the latest collection is still classy and versatile, but also incredibly modern and cool. If I was able, I would get greedy and scoop them all up for myself, but I’m very happy with the mixed metal pyramid necklace I just got in the meantime!
For a closer look at Minoux’s new line, stop into either pedX or Manifesto while they’re still in stock!
