A Girl Can Dream (Dream 2, Act 2)
I’m moonlighting as a REM-cycle stylist to show you a few dreamy outfits inspired by this time around by the “Rupert Jane.” These expertly designed beauties are from Gentle Souls by Kenneth Cole, and as previously discussed, have me drooling. These shoes are definitely worth the price tag of $198, because aside from being well made and über comfy, they will go with just about anything! This is how I would wear them to work (also a great interview outfit, peeps!)

The modest stacked heel and all black palette make this shoe the perfect foundation for a pop of color If you’re feeling up to it, I say go for a retro red dress, belted at the waist to show your shape. Top it off with a bag that says you mean business (Latico shown here,) some sweet posts (Daphne Olive birdies,) and a cool day-to-night blazer. Being professional doesn’t mean looking stuffy!
Sweet dreams until next time,
Sally
Totally Far Out
Growing up in the 70s meant looking longingly at the fashions my older cousins wore. Chunky wooden heeled sandals, faded bell bottoms, and crocheted shirts were the epitome of cool in my young eyes. Sadly when I could buy my OWN clothes, fashion had jumped to the asymmetrical, jewel-toned look of the 80s (ugh.)
However, as fashion is cyclical, what goes around comes around, and I can create that look I longed for once again. The wooden heel is back! The wedge heel is back! And I’m old enough now …

So grab your bubble gum Kissing Potion, spray on the Love’s Baby Soft, and come in for the grown-up version of Dr. Scholl’s – Cydwoq’s “Revolt.” Or perhaps Miz Mooz’s “Yael” which has a super comfortable cork and leather wedge heel, or the equally comfy Biviel wedges #3123. Top ‘em off with some ultra light wooden earrings from Daphne Olive, and ahhh – the dreams of a young girl are fulfilled.
(Clockwise from top left: Miz Mooz Yael, available in Whiskey or Ice, at pedX; Cydwoq Revolt, available in black metallic, at pedX; Biviel BV3123, available in red or indigo, at Manifesto; Daphne Olive wooden earrings (and necklaces!) available at pedX and Manifesto; 1970s beauty products, available in my adolescence, and on ebay.)
