Pack it up

There are two kinds of people in this world: the kind who overpack and the kind who don’t. As the only member of my family who works at a shoe store, my kin are always shocked to find that, for every trip, I have only packed two or three pairs of shoes— they have all managed to find room for at least five! Say what?! There’s no place I can image going for a week or less that requires so many! If you’ve got the room and the desire and the arm strength to carry them all with you… I never have any of those things, so I make sure they all go with the same pairs of shoes! Now is not the time to be indecisive, you guys! Pick your favorite outfits and rock em!

You need a flat shoe or sandal, comfy enough to see the sights by foot, a dressy shoe for all the schmancy places you might end up, and a ~wild card~ that pair that you just can’t bear to live without while you are gone because WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN?!*
The same goes for your bags: you need an all-day-goes-with-everything one and a schmancy one. Boom boom, look at all that room! All the better to fill it with snow globes for your coworkers, my dear.

Bon Voyage!

A Penny for Your Thoughts

Think penny loafers are just for an old-fashioned prep school look? Think again! These babies are definitely tomboy-chic, but they can be worn with just about anything. Especially now that they are popping up in such great colors! My current favorite is this sunny yellow Born we have at Pedx (also comes in a natural tan), which is perfect for this dreamy spring outfit:

Paired with one of the new leafy-hued Hobo wallets, as well as a Town & Reese ring, Minoux necklace, and Viv & Ingrid posts!

A Rainbow of Shoes

Spring is here!  At least for your feet it is… the weather will catch up at some point. When it is really grey and dreary outside, I like to wear a lot of neon colors in order to brighten up the day.   I also like to shop to brighten up my day. Why not do both? PedX has a delightful rainbow of shoes for all your color needs or maybe just your color wants, either way, TOTALLY WORTH IT.

*SHOE CHALLENGE! Try wearing only brightly colored shoes for a whole week, maybe even a month if you are feeling daring! This means no neutrals ladies! Good luck, I want to see pictures!

Easy Peasy

It’s getting dark so early these days, and somehow, this surprises me every year. Like clockwork, every November I have The. Hardest. Time. getting out of bed, and all the coffee in the world can’t change it. Despite this, I would really rather prefer to leave the house looking like a grown up, since I am and all. Luckily, I have an equation to remedy this on mornings (and ahem, some afternoons) when the cold doesn’t let me get out of bed until zero hour. And it’s an easy one! The answer is great jewelry and greater basics. Duh! If you invest in some stellar pieces, the kind that fit and feel great and never go out of style, you won’t need to think about them every morning- they’ve already been thought! You still with me? It’s ok, here’s a handy chart:

See that there? Do you not already have a great white tee? No? Well, you got bigger problems then, lady!
Simply throw on your all-time favorite cardigan/blazer/cape/whatever and hit the road—your day awaits you! And if you need this outfit to get you through the day and on to happy hour, just swipe on some eyeliner and maybe another necklace.
Stay tuned for some more easy equations, fellow sleepy fashionistas!

Spring Colors: Peach/Pink/Nude

If the last few sunny have you feeling just peachy, then this post is for you!
Let me start by saying that I am one pasty sonnofagun. An unfortunate combination of genetics and weather has left me perma-pale, and there’s nothing to be done about it. As such, I thought my complexion left me out of the running for certain colors, especially pink. But with all these nudes, taupes, peaches, and ballerina pinks strutting down the runways and on the streets, who am I to resist? For the first time in a long time, I tried on a nudey, pinky thing (An oh-so-soft sweater. With Dolman sleeves, if you really wanna know.) And guess what? I looked damn good! Don’t miss out on the yummy color trends because of your coloring, just find the shade that works for you (this unfortunately involves a certain amount of trial and error, don’t say I didn’t warn you.)
If you’re nervous to take a dive into the naked look, start with shoes (heads up: this is my advice for everything!) A great nude colored shoe will give you legs for days, and who doesn’t want that? This effect is created by scoring a pair that is close in color to your skin tone, so that your legs get a few more inches added (and heels help with this too, obviously!)

Check out a few of my favorite leg-lengtheners in my new favorite color!

Any of these beauties would surely add a spring to your step!
