Easy Peasy
It’s getting dark so early these days, and somehow, this surprises me every year. Like clockwork, every November I have The. Hardest. Time. getting out of bed, and all the coffee in the world can’t change it. Despite this, I would really rather prefer to leave the house looking like a grown up, since I am and all. Luckily, I have an equation to remedy this on mornings (and ahem, some afternoons) when the cold doesn’t let me get out of bed until zero hour. And it’s an easy one! The answer is great jewelry and greater basics. Duh! If you invest in some stellar pieces, the kind that fit and feel great and never go out of style, you won’t need to think about them every morning- they’ve already been thought! You still with me? It’s ok, here’s a handy chart:

See that there? Do you not already have a great white tee? No? Well, you got bigger problems then, lady!
Simply throw on your all-time favorite cardigan/blazer/cape/whatever and hit the road—your day awaits you! And if you need this outfit to get you through the day and on to happy hour, just swipe on some eyeliner and maybe another necklace.
Stay tuned for some more easy equations, fellow sleepy fashionistas!

Bootie-licious
Ah, Portland fall is upon us- or, as I like to call it, “pre-winter.” Because there’s not a huge difference, unfortunately. Slightly less rain, slightly less cold… Anywho, I like to take advantage of these slightlies before it’s time to get completely bundled up. Layers of pullovers, cardigans, blazers, knee socks, cool hats, whatever it takes to get you through in one stylish piece. And of course the ubiquitous ankle bootie.
I hear from customers all the time that they “can’t” wear ankle booties, but in reality there’s a bootie for everyone. You just have to find one the hits the proper spot on your leg, which just happens to be one of the slimmer parts of your ankle or calf, and certainly not the widest. This will be the magically flattering spot that doesn’t cut off your height. To inspire you, here’s a couple of style-savvy gals who get it right:

And here’s just a peek at the ankle-baring styles we have in stock for you:
Try cuffing your trousers or jeans to show them off, or with a skirt and some cozy tights or socks. These babies are just as versatile as a full length boot, so what are you waiting for?

Year Round Love
Everybody, let me introduce you to the new love of my life: the Swedish Hasbeen Jodhpur boot. I bought them the day they came in, immediately put them on, then proceeded to not take them off the entire weekend. Seriously people, they are amazing (and so comfortable), believe me, once you get them on, you too will find yourself justifying wearing shoes to bed!

And the best part of these guys is their versatility (which we already know I’m a fan of). You can wear ‘em all summer with shorts and dresses, and then jeans or some colorful sweater tights in the fall. Here’s some idea’s I’ve been cookin’ up in my head for my future with my beautiful Jodhpur boots.

The Jodhpur is now available at pedX, along with the Combat Ankle Boot. Go get ‘em while they last!

On my mind this week:

Boots so new, I can’t even find ‘em online anywhere!
So cheers for comfy wedges and sexy straps!

How to Wear it: Now & Then
Any fashionista worth her weight in boots knows the importance of versatility. It’s all about being able to adapt your wardrobe from season to season, reusing staple pieces along the way. A mini dress in the Fall? Yeah, with some cool tights and boots. A wool blazer in the springtime? Drr, just layer it over a tissue weight tank top and shorts. The same goes for shoes (with the obvious exception of teeny sandals and snow boots.)
Let me show you my favorite new arrivals: the Ella bootie by Faryl Robin. A boot like this can easily make the transition through the seasons with a costume change.
For instance, here’s how you could rock these boots at your annual holiday party:

You can dress these right up with some lacy tights, a gauzy dress in a jewel tone, and some classy, subtle accessories. The edginess of the boots tone down the femininity of the dress, and vice versa. Now you don’t look too “done up.”
Now that your new favorite boots have made their debut, here’s an idea of how to wear them later:

Stuff your favorite skinny jeans into them or scrunch them up over the top*, add a comfy oversized tee and a blazer and pile on some cute jangly bracelets. Don’t be shy!
That wasn’t so hard, was it? If you have any style questions or tips, feel free to email sally@pedxshoes.com or just click the “Ask Us” button up top!
*I’m partial to tucking my jeans into my socks to keep them from slipping out (the boots will cover the nerdiness.) Happy Socks are my fave- not too thick, not too thin, cute patterns.
