Pack it up

There are two kinds of people in this world: the kind who overpack and the kind who don’t. As the only member of my family who works at a shoe store, my kin are always shocked to find that, for every trip, I have only packed two or three pairs of shoes— they have all managed to find room for at least five! Say what?! There’s no place I can image going for a week or less that requires so many! If you’ve got the room and the desire and the arm strength to carry them all with you… I never have any of those things, so I make sure they all go with the same pairs of shoes! Now is not the time to be indecisive, you guys! Pick your favorite outfits and rock em!

You need a flat shoe or sandal, comfy enough to see the sights by foot, a dressy shoe for all the schmancy places you might end up, and a ~wild card~ that pair that you just can’t bear to live without while you are gone because WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN?!*
The same goes for your bags: you need an all-day-goes-with-everything one and a schmancy one. Boom boom, look at all that room! All the better to fill it with snow globes for your coworkers, my dear.

Bon Voyage!

Match! Or, like, don’t!

Whether you’re the matchy-matchy type or like to go out on a limb with your outfits, I totally dig it. My style is constantly changing, the only constant is COLOR. I’m a fan (just in case you didn’t notice!) Some days, there’s a theme, and a color scheme, and all that good stuff. Sometimes, there is little or no rhyme to my reason. I like it that way. Take this outfit for example- you can either work your shoes into the same color scheme of the outfit (and the earrings too; see the same deco shape?) or mix it up a bit with another color shoe (red and yellow is a favorite color combo of mine.)

What do you guys think of these pairings? Would you dare?

Sally

A Rainbow of Shoes

Spring is here!  At least for your feet it is… the weather will catch up at some point. When it is really grey and dreary outside, I like to wear a lot of neon colors in order to brighten up the day.   I also like to shop to brighten up my day. Why not do both? PedX has a delightful rainbow of shoes for all your color needs or maybe just your color wants, either way, TOTALLY WORTH IT.

*SHOE CHALLENGE! Try wearing only brightly colored shoes for a whole week, maybe even a month if you are feeling daring! This means no neutrals ladies! Good luck, I want to see pictures!

Daydreaming

Sometimes I daydream about a life where I’m not a single mother of two boys side-stepping legos and dodging nerf darts… and I’m wearing these. In a big old 1950s convertible with oversize sunglasses and a scarf tied around my neck. And as much as smoking is uncool - I am, with a long cigarette holder of course.

Sigh…

Shoe Crew, Vegas Style: Biviel!

Hello again, party animals! We’re back with another Vegas Vid, and we hope you’re enjoying them as much as we are! Today, let’s talk Biviel, we know you love it! And we love our rep Tony, who you might recognize from his previous reality experience on Super Nanny (I’m a shameless namedropper like that.) Tony was gracious enough to step in front of the camera once again to show you one of the bestest offerings from the Fall/Winter 2012 collection for Biviel.

Take a look, drool away:

So good, right? We’re excited to get this boot in, even if it means summer is ending, and it seems so far away as it is. Sigh…
At least we’ll have these foxy boots to enliven us. Thanks so much for hanging out with us Tony, and everyone at Biviel!

Stay tuned for more Vegas footage and sneak previews!

On my mind this week:

Boots so new, I can’t even find ‘em online anywhere!
So cheers for comfy wedges and sexy straps!

Celebrate Independence Day In Style!

I’m all for dressing for the occasion (if you haven’t noticed) but holidays are a tough one. There’s a fine line between looking festive and looking corny.

Evidence.

But there’s something to be for celebrating in style, and you can do it without looking like an American flag tomorrow (unless that’s your thing, in which case, see above for inspiration.) For a more subtle look, try wearing a snappy, holiday-apropos sandal and contrasting pedicure.

See what I’m sayin?

So try a bold red sandal with white toes, or any combo of the above, and you’ll add a little spice, instead showing up to the BBQ looking like you thought it was a costume party.

sock it to me.

If you’ve learned one thing from this blog, I want it be that I am a huge supporter of making socks a part of the outfit. Specifically, I like wearing a fashionable sandal with a great sock. I know I’m not alone (right? … right?!)
Even as the temperature rises, I find myself wearing lightweight socks (Happy Socks are perfect for this!) with my lil Summer sundresses. As one final bit of inspiration, I stumbled across this photo while “window” shopping on the Revu. website:

How cute and Summer ready does she look? Love the chunky sandal with a plain sock, complimenting the dress and adding a special touch to a simple outfit.
Check out a few similar styles that we have at Manifesto:

And a few at pedX that fit the bill too:

(L-R: :Brave” by Gee WaWa, “Spano” by Gentle Souls, “Rachel” by Camper)

So next time you need to spice up your fave sundress, try layering a sock underneath your stylish sandal! But there are some rules to follow, as always.
1. This is not to be done with any sort of thong sandal. No, no, no!
2. This look works best with a simple sandal, a simple (as in one color) sock, or both if you’re just testing the waters.
3. Keep it in the same color family. Or, try a neutral shoe (tan, taupe, black, etc.) so you can get a little wild with the sock, or vice versa.
Have fun playing around, and let us know what you think on facebook!

Totally Far Out

Growing up in the 70s meant looking longingly at the fashions my older cousins wore.  Chunky wooden heeled sandals, faded bell bottoms, and crocheted shirts were the epitome of cool in my young eyes.  Sadly when I could buy my OWN clothes, fashion had jumped to the asymmetrical, jewel-toned look of the 80s (ugh.)
However, as fashion is cyclical, what goes around comes around, and I can create that look I longed for once again.  The wooden heel is back! The wedge heel is back!  And I’m old enough now …

So grab your bubble gum Kissing Potion, spray on the Love’s Baby Soft, and come in for the grown-up version of Dr. Scholl’s – Cydwoq’s “Revolt.” Or perhaps Miz Mooz’s “Yael” which has a  super comfortable cork and leather wedge heel, or the equally comfy Biviel wedges #3123.  Top ‘em off with some ultra light wooden earrings from Daphne Olive, and ahhh – the dreams of a young girl are fulfilled.
